Sprinkler Field Irrigation Usage In the United States:

Large Area Pressure Sprinklers, Full and Part Circle, Center Pivot, High Volume, Big Gun

American Food, Agricultural Exports, and Flowers are Reliant On Irrigated Crops

Pressure sprinkler systems are often the preferred agricultural irrigation method. Sprinkler irrigation has historically boosted crop production in the United States by providing rain mimicking moisture, as well as cooling, when crops must survive excessive and damaging heat. According to the United States Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service, the mighty sprinkler system accounts for a tremendous amount of agricultural irrigation. The table below lists each state and the number of acres utilizing pressure–sprinkler systems. Specifically, they show this data:
“Acres irrigated with pressure-sprinkler systems (all types)(excluding drip/trickle & low-flow micro systems) on acres in the open (and percent distributions), by farm-size class by State, for all 2013 irrigated farms.”

This table only shows each state’s total acreage for farms of all sizes. A complete list can be downloaded here.
